1. Reverse Side (1995)
Meeting with an Investment Strategist.
The strategist is trying to divine the direction of the financial markets using the charts on the reverse size of the page. I’m not convinced he has a better idea than I do.
2. Routine? (1995)
Monday Morning Staff Meeting
A long meeting, but nothing to report. It only became apparent later in the day that my boss and his peers were leaving.
3. Fearless Forecast (1997)
We’re trying to figure out what we will tell our clients about the economic outlook for the next 12 to 18 months. Ironically we don’t much rely on our forecast when we make investments. The forecast is just “entertainment.”
4. Shell Game (1997)
Reorganizational announcement meeting
The old boss is out, and the new one is announced. We’ll be spending lots of time on airplanes as we report to someone in a different time zone.
No one will say it aloud, but this plan has little to do with investments, and a lot to do with making a newly acquired bank think it still matters within the expanding empire.
